Iran has no right to exist, and no right to defend itself. It is a theocratic dictatorship ruled by religious madmen who want to take over the world and violate the rights of their citizens.

It may have escaped your notice, but since the 2005 IDF withdrawal from Gaza, Palestinans have killed more Palestinians than the IDF has (including Operation Cast Lead). You may not know this, but the Palestinian Human Rights organizations do... and they have complained to the ICRC, Amnesty International and the UN about it. Hamas’ response? Levying crippling taxes to put them out of business.

Worry about what’s going on in your own back yard.

Iran is a democracy? It’s a fundamentalist state based on Islam. How can you compare the Israeli democracy with that of Iran?

It’s a rare thing to see such a biased and one-sided post from one who pretends to be neutral. Do you actually know the meaning of the words you throw around?

Apartheid: is the “legalized” separation and oppression of resident people in their own country through legislation, to allow a minority to rule. Good examples of apartheid states today are: Saudi Arabia, where only Muslims can become citizens, practice their religion freely and own property; the Palestinian Authority territories, where it is a capital crime to sell land to Jews, and whose negotiations demand that any future Palestinian state be completely “Jew-free”.

Most of the Arab League states have a list of “anti-Jewish” laws as long as your arm that make Hitler’s “Nuremberg Laws” look liberal. Do some research and see who the real “Apartheid states” are.

Fundamentalist government: a state government controlled by a religion in all facets of daily life. Examples would be Iran, Afghanistan’s Taliban-controlled areas. In such places, non-Muslims are suppressed even more severely than in the Arab League states, as well as oppressing those Muslims deemed “not Muslim enough”… where “liberals” are condemned for collaboration with the country’s enemies, thieves have their right hands amputated, homosexuals are executed, adulterous women are put to death while adulterous men go free and much more.

Democracy: a system of government where all citizens have a vote. Well, all citizens of Israel have the right to vote at age 18, regardless of religion, race, ethnic background or political opinion. This is a greater enfranchisement than you have in North America, where in many states (US) and several provinces (Canada), convicted felons who have paid their debt to society are denied the right to vote for the rest of their lives.

No, Israel isn’t perfect, but then, neither is any other country in the world. At least we can honestly say “we’re trying”, when many others can’t.

It’s all too easy to throw out buzzwords and slogans like “Apartheid state” and “fundamentalist government”, especially when you have no ability to make rational, specific comments that can be rebutted or debated. If you’re a “Peace Watcher”, then I’m Mahatma Gandhi reincarnated.
